merchant and Mayor Edmund Wood, whose dwelling it was from 1536 to 1548.
The Anteros
Foundation is a charitable organisation founded
by John Hemmant, of Bergh Apton,
in 2006. Their aim is to promote education in the Arts by running courses,
workshops and summer schools. Anteros Arts
Foundation initiated the East Anglian Schools
Portrait Prize in 2009.
Anteros’ intentions are to develop their
activities and to offer courses from beginners to intermediate standard, in
watercolour, oil painting, icon painting, acrylic
and pastel, drawing (life), etching, ceramics and some textile work. The
purpose is to enable people to acquire specific skills in Fine Arts and
Crafts, and to add a new dimension to their creativity. The Portrait Prize
will continue, as will contacts with local schools. The Gallery will show
exhibitions and whilst the Craft Shop is unlikely to remain in its present
state, a craft fair will be run before Christmas.
The opening hours for the
visiting public will be announced shortly.
